NATURAL, NewSpeak and NetLogo

N is for NATURAL, NewSpeak and NetLogo.

NATURAL was the most unnatural name for a programming language I had encountered until Processing came along. Perhaps the name had a very different feel for the Germans who created it. I have some job advert counts from the early 1990s showing Natural in the top 20 of most frequently listed languages.

NewSpeak is a language generally associated with a book. The programming language I have heard about (whose memory appears to have almost faded away; it is a distance memory of those working in the lab that created it) is not the language listed on Wikipedia.

NetLogo looks like a fun agent based simulation language. It has been used for some interesting research and is on my very short list of languages to use, that I have not yet used in anger.
